Kiosk in lobby of downtown Athens Food City open 7:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. for tag renewals only. Renewals for emergency & rescue vehicles must be done in the County Clerk's office.


The County Clerk performs various functions of county business. The duties of the office range from secretary to the County Commission, motor vehicle title and registration, clerk for legislative body, issues marriage licenses, business licenses, collects hotel and motel tax, sales tax on vehicles and boats, issues pawn broker licenses, beer permits, notary public applications, genealogy research, vehicle registration by email, online vehicle renewals, issues manufactured mobile home decals. This office is elected county-wide every 4 years.
